HIIT Timer

A high-intensity interval, repeated a set number of times, separated by a low-intensity interval.

Intervals are arranged HIGH, LOW, HIGH — low intensity is the separator, so the timer always ends on a high. Want HIGH, LOW, HIGH, LOW instead? Use a circuit timer with both as exercises.

Settings

Number of Sets

How many high-intensity intervals to perform.

Start with Low Intensity

Adds a low-intensity interval before the first work interval.

Intervals

Tap any interval to open the interval editor. Empty optional intervals are skipped.

High Intensity

The work interval.

Low Intensity

The recovery interval between work intervals.

Warmup

Prepended to the timer.

Cool Down

Appended to the timer.

Common Properties

Name

How the timer is labeled in lists, including the sub-timer list inside compound timers. Blank names show as Unnamed Timer.

Activity

Tags the timer with an Apple Health activity. Required if you want completed sessions to log as workouts.

Alerts

Sound and haptic cues for interval transitions. Tap to change them. Inside compound timers, each sub-timer keeps its own alerts; rest intervals use the compound's.

Audio

Music or other audio for the timer. Tap to open the audio editor.

Allow Overrun

Tacks a count-up interval onto the end so you can keep training past the scheduled finish and still log the time. End the timer manually when you're done — otherwise Seconds keeps running in the background and drains your battery.

Color

Display color in the timer list. Defaults to the parent folder's color.

Notes

Scratchpad for anything you want to keep with the timer. URLs auto-link.

Preview

Sanity-check before you start. The Preview Bar at the top of the editor totals the duration; tap it for the full interval list.
