Simple & Sinister Timer

Pavel Tsatsouline’s minimalist classic, run on a clock: ten 30-second swing intervals on the minute, a two-minute transition to set up, then ten one-minute Turkish get-ups — five per side, alternating — with short rests between reps. Total running time is 23:00, and the timer handles every changeover.

Strength and conditioning from a single bell is the whole pitch — swings train the hinge and the engine, get-ups train control under load. The pacing is deliberately unhurried, the get-ups especially. Want a longer transition or different rest lengths? The editor will let you reshape any interval.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is Simple & Sinister with this timer?
23:00 — the swing series on the minute, a two-minute transition, then ten unhurried get-ups with rests between reps.
What is the transition for?
It separates the swing half from the get-up half — two minutes to catch your breath and get set on the floor. Stretch it in the editor if you want longer.
What pace suits the get-ups?
Slow. Each rep gets a full minute, and using all of it is the point — control on the way up and the way down beats finishing early.
